As a professional photographer, I get questions all the time about cameras.
Most people just need a high quality point and shoot. I’ve tried several different brands, including Fuji, Sony, Nikon, and Canon. Without hesitation, I recommend the Canon PowerShot series of cameras.
These cameras have large, bright screens and can be used in manual or automatic mode. They can also be customized to shoot in black and white, sepia tones, or just about any other color tint you can dream up.
The 3 megapixels and up versions have enough clarity to print an 8 x 10 with no problem. I also like the ability of most of them to shoot pretty high quality video in a small package.
