Back to our monument for a few more shots.
Something we don’t see very often in the US - Soldier patrolling with automatic weapons. There was a protest going on this crisp night. I didn’t quite get all the details, but it was about the nation of Chile.

A view from the bottom. My favorite of the few that I took.

The young lad jumped on the train, played a sloppy diddy between stops on a worn fiddle, then asked for a few Euro before stepping off.

I have to admit that I forget the name of this wonderful structure, but it’s also heavily guarded. What you can’t see in the photo is that the large tower on the left is nearly a skeleton and undergoing a restoration.

The Metro walls are lined with rusty industrial iron, riveted together like an art deco robot.

You can see the textures a little better in this shot of the curved stairway.

I was able to catch this interesting effect as the cars flew by.

A reader! This is how I would likely pass my time if I didn’t have a camera with me on this night.

And now on to business. Here’s David Hobby from Strobist making this photo.

European Strobist fans scanning the menu.

More Strobists. The one on the right is new friend Rui Leal.

Next up - Some atmosphere and since it was so close to Halloween.

I really enjoyed shooting here. My first photoshoot as a student was at a graveyard back home in Savannah.
Check out this rose encased in lucite.

A mourning mother…

Someone had placed these small stones together to form a loose heart, undoubtedly broken.

I love cherubims.

And seraphims, but I’m not sure what the difference is.

This is a little details from a small crucifix. Not something I would normally photograph, but the detail was enchanting.

Back to a lighter subject - Rui instructs our model.

This is Julia - a nice young lady from Germany who agreed to let us take a few photos of her.

That’s it in a nutshell…Thanks for looking.

The soldiers patrolling around the Eiffel Tower are there every day, as far as I know (At least, when I was there last year they were, and this year they were still there). Not something you would see in the rest of Europe either, by the way.
Nice to see some new (to me) shots of the Strobist seminar! (I sat next to you I believe)
Very neat seeing a European tour in photos–much of the culture and art were captured in your photos.
Can’t wait to go back there now!!
