Several photographers who are considering the Nikon D700 have recently asked for examples. This was shot in Nikon NEF RAW format with the D700 and Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 lens. In this example, the focus point was his right eye. You can click to view the full size file.

Engagement | Riko & Bill

I was thrilled when my co-work Riko asked me to be her wedding photographer. She and her gaigin boyfriend Bill are going to heat up Redondo Beach next month for their wedding at the Portofino Inn overlooking the gorgeous Pacific Ocean.

For the engagement sessions, we headed down to the unlikely urban setting of Pine Avenue at Long Beach for a steamy photo shoot.

Here’s my favorite shot.

But I also like this sultry looking shot by the train.

I’m really looking forward to seeing all of Riko’s friends at the wedding. I just hope the Harajuku girls don’t get too crazy.

WEDDING | Cat & Alex

Yesterday’s wedding was in close-by Palos Verdes. The bride and her mother did all the planning themselves and the event was flawlessly pulled off by Michelle Nichol at the Palos Verdes Country Club.

Here’s the amazing view from Cat’s parents house where everyone gathered to get ready.

This is a detail view of our groom Alex buttoning his shirt. I’m sure all the ladies out there would love to see the before picture this one.

ENGAGEMENT | Diana and Albert - Downtown Los Angeles

Albert and I have know each other almost 10 years. He reminded me that the conga drums that he uses to play worship with were once mine. He has found the love of his life in Diana. Though they are from completely different cultures, they blend seemlessly into oneness.

You might remember Diana from her sister Daisy’s wedding a few months ago. This is a banner year for the Guilea family - Daisy, Diana, and Simona are all getting married this year and I have the pleasure of photographing all the weddings.

Diana and Albert wanted something a little different, so we took off to Downtown Los Angeles late one afternoon and took photos at the Ahmanson Theater, the Disney Concert Hall, and the Cathedral of the Angels.

Let’s start with something a little family friendly.

Relaxing on the stainless steal exterior of the Disney Concert Hall.

But things were starting to heat up….

And we ended up with some real passion.

WEDDING | KELLY & MARK

What happens when you can’t finish jump school and have to repeat the whole thing? You meet your future husband, that’s what.

Kelly and Mark could have met at West Point, but they didn’t. It took a pull-up and a series of serendipitous events to bring them together.

And so a day after America’s birthday, I was lucky enough to capture some of the best American’s as they joined their lives.

Here’s Mark leading a future meeting of the Joint Chiefs.

Here’s our gorgeous bride.

And another one since she looked so beautiful.

It took very little encouragement to have them kissing all day.

The wedding ended with guests sending Kelly and Mark off with a parade of sparklers.

PATTY AND HER SISTERS

I happened to be going through some photos I took for my wife and her family last year and came across this picture of Patty with her sisters. Patty is the hot blond second from the left.

In order from left to right we have…

Zulema - The baby of the family and one half of a set of paternal twins. She is married to Luis and they have two beautiful children, Max and Belizia.

Patty - My wife and boss of our family

Lydia - The second to oldest, Lydia is married to Miguel and has four boys-Justin, Jacob, Joshua, and Joseph.

Linda - The only single one in the bunch. Linda has one little boy, Caden.

As you can imagine, these lovely ladies cause quite a scene when they show up. No pictured are their brothers, Ulises and Aureliano.

BABIES | Cambria Fish

Well…It’s been a little more than a year and a half since I photographed Dave and Erin’s Wedding at Bianci Vineyards and as sometimes happens, they are now the very proud mother and father of a gorgeous little girl named Cambria.

In case you didn’t get the connection, Cambria is also the name of a wonderful wine region on California’s Central Coast, not far from where they were married.

Congratulations to the Fish and Locke families. Now cousin Reyn has a playmate in the family.

RUBY | MY LANCE VENICE SCOOTER

Back when I was 13 years old on Tybee Island, my good friend Jacqueline had a Honda Passport moped. With. gas prices pushing $4.50 a gallon here in Southern California, I picked up something to help save on Gas.

The Lance Venice is one of the better manufactured Chinese Scooters. It has a standard GY6 150cc four-stroke engine and front ABS. My first tank averaged nearly 75MPG.

A big thank-you to Vince from Scooter Dynasty for helping me out.

ENGAGEMENT SESSION | CAT & ALEX

I was a little worried when it rained the day before my appointment session with Cat and Alex. On top of that, I had a minor medical procedure done two days before that left my throat sore and my voice mostly useless for about a week.

But the rain turned out to be a blessing and me keeping my mouth shut let Cat and Alex relax. We started out at a private residence in Palos Verdes with the most amazing views.

The rain left us with fluffy clouds and blue skies. Cat looked adorable in her short linen sun dress.

From there we went to the beautiful Malaga Cove Library area for a few more. Don’t they look adorable together?

I think this is my favorite of the bunch. I had so much fun talking to Cat and Alex (as much as I could, anyway) that I can’t wait to see them for their wedding later this year at the Palos Verdes Country Club.
